On the date 27/02/2014, PV Power Camau thermal power plant in the has supplied 45 billion kWh to the national grid annually since becoming operational at April 4 2007.
Built by the PetroVietnam Power Corporation and the PetroVietnam Power Camau company, the 880 million USD for Camau 1 &Camau 2 plant , with capacity 1.500 MW ( 750MW*2 ) , is designed to produce anaverage of 7- 8 billion kWh each year , equivalent to 7 -8 percent of the national output .
Camau Thermal power plant uses combined-cycle technology in producing electricity. This technology is an assembly of heat engines that workin tandem off the same source of heat, converting it into mechanical energy, which in turn usually drives electrical generators.
It also plays an important role in supplying electricity to the southern key economic region.
