An inauguration ceremony was held on September 20 in the Que Phong Dist, Nghe An Province to mark the official opening of the 180 megawatt Hua Na hydropower plant.
Participating and witnessing this event were Mr Vu Huy Hoang - Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade ; Mr Pham Manh Thang - General Director of General Department of Energy, Lt Gen Nguyen Huu Cuong , commander of IV military region ; Mr Nguyen Xuan Duong – Chairmant of People’s Committee of Nghe An Province, Mr Phung Dinh Thuc – Chairman of the Board of Directors of PetroVietnam, the other leaders of Vietnam Oil & Gas Group, Petrovietnam Power Corporation and guest were present to cheerfully congratulate to the ceremony.

With a total investment of VND7 trillion (US$329 million) dong, the Huana Hydropower Plant with a designed capacity of 180 MW and two generators has been completed on the scheduled, bringing huge economic benefits. Moreover, the plant will supply on average 3.2 million kWh/day to the national grid .

At the ceremony, Mr. Vu Huy Hoang - Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade has commended the Petrovietnam’s leader ; Petrovietnam Power Corporation’s leader, Huana Hydropower Plant and staff on their efforts, great contribution to the national energy security.
In his speech delivered to thousands of workers, engineers and local people at the inauguration ceremony, Vu Huy Hoang - Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade warmly praised the people in Nghe An and local authority for yielding their land for the construction of the plant. He also praised the cadres and workers of the construction company who had made great efforts to constructing the work.

On behalf of PetroVietnam , Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Phung DinhThuc expressed his appreciation in having the contribution from the management team of Huana Hydropower Plant to success of PV Power and PetroVietnam. The Huana Hydropower Plant coming into operation not only contributes to solving the energy problem of the country in the period of industrialization and modernization, but also has a great economic, political and social significance. The project has provided opportunities for the Nghe An Province to upgrade and rebuild its infrastructure, improve the eco-environment, control floods, supply water for irrigation in the low land, ensure security and defence in the northwest of Nghe An, arrange and stabilize the life of thousands of ethnic people in the mountainous areas, helping them develop their economy and improve their life.
The successful construction of the Huana Hydroelectric Plant showed the strong growth of the hydroelectric sector in PetroVietnam in general and the mechanical engineering sector in particular.

At the ceremony , the Huana Hydropower Plant and individuals have received the Order of Labour and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade for their outstanding achievements as well as their great contributions to the construction of Huana Hydropower Plant .
