Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant will soon put Unit 1 into operation

In November 2022, Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant is expected to complete the installation, conduct test run, and soon put Unit 1 into safe and stable operation again after the shutdown. Under the direction of PetroVietnam Power Corporation, the Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant and foreign experts quickly handled technical problems to put Unit 1 back into operation soon. Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant (Ha Tinh Petrovietnam Power Company) is the largest coal-fired power plant in the Central region, consisting of two units with total capacity of 1,200 MW. In September 2021, Unit 1 encountered a technical problem and had to temporarily shut down until now. Talking to Nhadautu.vn, Mr. Nguyen Duy Manh - Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Petrovietnam Power Company said: "Over the past time, Ha Tinh Petrovietnam Power Company built a plan and quickly deployed to fix the problem of Unit 1. In order to put the unit into operation as planned soon, the plant organized a contractor selection process and signed a contract with foreign contractors including: Toshiba (Japan) for supply of materials and Sulzer (Indonesia) for implementation of the troubleshooting plan”. Regarding the troubleshooting plan, Mr. Nguyen Quy Kien - Head of Technical Department, Ha Tinh Petrovietnam Power Company said: "The company is implementing the signed contract with the contractors. It is expected that until November 14, 2022, experts and contractors will focus on installation, then conduct a test run, to put Unit 1 into safe and stable operation again soon. At this time, while organizing unit troubleshooting, Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant has focused on maintenance of the entire system of Unit 1, ensuring safety and stability when operating the unit is operating again.

The company has signed a contract with the main contractor Petrovietnam Power Services Joint Stock Company- Ha Tinh branch to perform periodic inspection of equipment of Unit 1. At the same time, maintaining and preserving equipment to prevent wear and tear of equipment and machinery at this unit. The leader of Petrovietnam Power Services Joint Stock Company- Ha Tinh branch, said: “We regularly arrange 223 engineers and technical workers to be on duty at Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant to deploy maintenance items, ensuring that the equipment of unit 1 is always in good operation, ready to put the unit into operation again”. It is known that while unit 1 is temporarily shutting down, PetroVietnam Power Corporation has agreed to overhaul this unit. Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant has coordinated with the Technical Service Center (TSC) to submit the scope of work and cost estimation to the Corporation for consideration. Currently, the Corporation has agreed on the plan and is in the process of selecting a contractor to overhaul unit 1. As planned, in July 2022, unit 1 of Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant will begin the overhaul and the work is expected to be completed in October this year.
