During the ceremony, chairman Quang stated that Vietnam's electricity demand continues rising quickly, despite the nation's energy development strategy being increasingly focused on lowering emissions, improving energy efficiency, and progressively transitioning to cleaner energy sources. In this regard, LNG power plants have been identified as one of the key solutions aimed at promoting the nation's sustainable energy transition while simultaneously guaranteeing national energy security.

PV Power, one of the main producers of electricity nationwide, is actively in the process of researching and constructing a number of large-scale LNG power projects that makes use of cutting-edge, highly efficient, and eco-friendly technologies. The PV Power chairman therefore asserted that a crucial element in ensuring the overall efficacy and success of such these projects is the selection of respectable international partners that utilise robust technological skills along with proven project execution experience.

Boasting a wealth of experience in the creation and provision of high-capacity and high-efficiency gas turbine solutions, GE Vernova is acknowledged to be one of the world’s leading energy technology corporations. GE Vernova's technologies are currently being used by numerous power plants worldwide, which in turn helps to reduce emissions and enhance operational efficiency in the power generation industry.

Prior to this, PV Power and GE Vernova worked together on a number of significant gas-fired power projects domestically. Notably, GE Vernova provided equipment for the nation’s first LNG power project, the Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 power stations, which went into commercial service at the end of 2025. The continued co-operation will serve to fortify their present partnership and promote the growth of upcoming LNG power projects in the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, GE Vernova will reserve capacity and get ready to provide gas turbine units for LNG power projects that PV Power will go on to develop over the upcoming years. The agreement is viewed as being a crucial prelude to the execution of PV Power's LNG power projects, especially the Quynh Lap LNG power project in the Central province of Nghe An.

This comes after a consortium comprising of PV Power, SK Innovation, and NASU already chosen by the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee as an investor of the Quynh Lap LNG power project. It is one of the significant LNG power projects that is expected to increase the overall capacity of the nation's power grid whilst also promoting socioeconomic development in the North Central region of Vietnam.

Along with allowing PV Power to be more proactive in getting equipment ready for the project, the signing of the equipment reservation agreement with GE Vernova will guarantee that its future LNG-to-power projects are carried out with cutting-edge technologies, high efficiency, and compliance with international environmental standards, according to PV Power.
